I am trying to port our plugin to AIX It works successfully on solaris, hpux, and
linux. On aix however it seems that after Apache loads our module, any api call (for example:
ap_pcalloc, ap_pstrdup etc..) is failing with illegal instructions. I have submitted a bug
with IBM and they recommended submitting a bug here. The backtrace from the core file is as

Illegal instruction (reserved addressing fault) in . at 0x0 ($t1)
Instruction is valid on: pwrx
0x00000000 f00c2208       Invalid opcode.

Here is the simple module that can re-create this problem:

extern "C" module sm_module;

        char *szConfigFile;

} sm_server_config_struct;

extern "C" void *create_sm_server_config(pool *p, server_rec *pServer)
fprintf(stderr, "start of create_sm_server_config\n");
fprintf(stderr, "allocating %d for smserverconf\n", sizeof(sm_server_config_stru
        sm_server_config_struct *smserverconf = (sm_server_config_struct *) ap_p
calloc(p, sizeof(sm_server_config_struct));
        fprintf(stderr, "Finisehd ap_pcalloc call.");
        smserverconf->szConfigFile = "/apache/";

        return smserverconf;
fprintf(stderr, "end of create_sm_server_config.\n");

extern "C" int SmCheckAccess(request_rec *pReq)
        int nRetCode;
        fprintf(stderr, "Simple Checkaccess hook that does nothing.\n");
        fprintf(stderr, "Check Access Hook finished.\n");
        return nRetCode;

extern "C" module sm_module = {
    NULL,                         /* initializer */
    NULL, /* dir config creater */
