=> No firewall runnig on this machine.

=> For the netstat -an, here's the result :
    C:\>netstat -an

    ...nothing is using port 80.

=>    Yes I've installed the latest winsock2 version (W95ws2setup.exe).

=> Another information, quite important I think ; I have used the same
packages (EasyPHP, QuickPHP, and apache_1_3_14_win32_r2.exe) on
two others PCs (mine at home, and one of my colleague at work) and each
of them worked fine. And managed to install EasyPHP, uninstall it, install
QuickPHP, uninstall it, and install Apache 1.3.14. Each time Apache was
starting without any trouble.
    The problem is clearly located on this fuckin' work PC, but I cannot
re-install it for scratch (to many information on it). Do you have an idea?

  Are you running any firewall software?
  (blackice defender or the like)

  What does the command netstat -an
  tell you about who's using port 80?

  Did you grab the very latest winsock2.exe?
  (aka win95winsock2.exe) Did you then install
  msdun 1.2 or goofy 3rd party cruft like aol?
