This is because of a 'hp' thing rather than an Apache thing.
I'm just saying that the document should reflect this fact as
it may confuse some HP users. 

Here is the result of a negative uid.

login: nigel
Password:
Bad user id.

Here is the result of a negative gid

login: nigel
Password:
Bad group id.
