Subject [ANNOUNCE] Apache Calcite 1.21.0 released
Date Wed, 11 Sep 2019 23:07:40 GMT
The Apache Calcite team is pleased to announce the release of Apache
Calcite 1.21.0.

Calcite is a dynamic data management framework. Its cost-based
optimizer converts queries, represented in relational algebra, into
executable plans. Calcite supports many front-end languages and
back-end data engines, and includes an SQL parser and, as a
sub-project, the Avatica JDBC driver.

The release comes two months after 1.20.0. It includes more than 100
resolved issues, comprising a large number of new features as well as
general improvements and bug-fixes.

It is worth highlighting that Calcite now:

* supports implicit type coercion in various contexts;
* allows transformations of Pig Latin scripts into algebraic plans;
* provides an implementation for the main features of MATCH_RECOGNIZE in the Enumerable convention;
* supports correlated ANY/SOME/ALL sub-queries;
* introduces anonymous types based on ROW, ARRAY, and nested collection;
* brings new join algorithms for the Enumerable convention.

You can start using it in Maven by simply updating your dependency to:

  <dependency>
    <groupId>org.apache.calcite</groupId>
    <artifactId>calcite-core</artifactId>
    <version>1.21.0</version>
  </dependency>
