IMO COM is very important .. a large portion of the world are Win32
developers and if Apache XYZ (new name, TBD) supports only the Java
world then we're losing a big potential user base. Just because
Win32 is owned by MS, that doesn't mean that only their software 
will be used on that platform .. Apache Web server is proof that 
other others can make it too. As we've seen with the various SOAP
implementations, interoperability is still an issue and it'll be good
to have an open-source implementation which attempts to provide
an unbiased interpretation of the spec.

I'd like to see v3.0 support the "pluggable providers" concept (in
both the Java and C++ implementations) so that we can support other
components like .Net stuff to later.
