Can you configure your JVM to dump the heap on OOME and then post it
somewhere?

I'm developing on Mac OS X and I have 7.0.27 running with a
(system-default) heap size of 128MiB that doesn't bust the heap during
startup.

What webapp version are you running? Mine happen to be 2.4-spec, which
I don't think includes any annotation-scanning, so that may be a big
difference.

You also might be able to put this into your <Context> element:

<JarScanner scanClassPath="false" />
