Not sure if this is a cut-and-paste issue, but you shouldn't have a space between the dollar
sign and the left bracket.  It should just be "${user.home}".

It's up to you where you put it.  If you don't have a preference, I see a lot of people put
it in the "conf" directory.  Something like this maybe?

  ${catalina.base}/conf/ssl/my-keystore.jks
