Chuck,

I understand the ServletConextListener and will investigate the recommendation to see if ServletConextListener
is compatible with WebSphere 7 and WebLogic 11g as well and if it is I will make the change.

I make reference to getRealPath to load a property file. I have not had issue with this in
other environments, not to say this is not a bad thing to do.

Which, as Chris S noted earlier, should be done by a ServletContextListener, not a servlet.

That's good.  Why do you have a reference to ServletContext#getRealPath()?  That's very, very
risky.
