Sorry I wasn't clear.

I didn't mean 2172 concurrent requests. Just sessions. 
It hadn't occured to me that the number of sessions does not necessarily
equal the number of connections (duh).

the number of established connections indeed equals the number of
threads. So what Chuck said was true.
