I know that what I missed for years when trying to get this working was that
Tomcat has to have virtual hosts set up also.

What to do is remove Apache from the equation altogether and get working on tomcat. This is done by copying the
<Host> section in server.xml and changing the name of the host from
localhost to Then you can make another copy for the
next host etc.
