You can map * via ServerAlias in httpd (apache).
Then you could use proxypass (reverse proxying) or urlrewrite.
for example  (from httpd.conf):

<VirtualHost *>
ServerAlias *
ProxyPass /
ProxyPassReverse /

This would redirect any request into on port 8080.
this way you need only one host in tomcat server.xml. it should have the 
name ""

I don't think you can use acronyms where you specify host-aliases in
