I also have this in my server.xml
 <Resources className="org.apache.naming.resources.FileDirContext"
allowLinking="true"  />

I have also tried putting a phyichal file there instead of a link

This is driving me crazy

What are the perms on said file? i.e. what's the output of "ls -l" on
each host?

If the jar is a symlink, try "ls -lL"
