Subject Cluster: No members active in cluster group.
Date Wed, 28 Apr 2004 21:46:30 GMT
Hi,

I'm trying to get session replication going on Solaris 9 with Tomcat
5.0.19. I had this going on two Linux boxes, and am now trying to
create a similar configuration on two Solaris servers.

I put <distributable/> into servlets-examples, and the log file says:

Apr 28, 2004 3:35:12 PM
org.apache.catalina.cluster.session.DeltaManager start
INFO: Manager[/servlets-examples], skipping state transfer. No members
active in cluster group.

I can see the multicast pinging. I see the tcplisteners are listening.
  But, I don't see anything sending on the port the listeners are
listening on.

These are servers with many network interfaces on them, so I've tried a
number of combinations to make sure I have the networking right. I
think I do.

Earlier in the log, the clustering starts:

Apr 28, 2004 3:07:51 PM
org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.SimpleTcpCluster start
INFO: Cluster is about to start
Apr 28, 2004 3:07:51 PM org.apache.catalina.cluster.mcast.McastService
start
INFO: Sleeping for 2000 secs to establish cluster membership

Here's the configuration of one box, moose:
moose.scd.ucar.edu has address 128.117.224.85

     <Engine name="Catalina" defaultHost="moose.scd.ucar.edu" debug="0">
       <Host name="moose.scd.ucar.edu" debug="0" appBase="webapps"

         <Cluster
className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.SimpleTcpCluster"

managerClassName="org.apache.catalina.cluster.session.DeltaManager"
                  expireSessionsOnShutdown="false"
                  useDirtyFlag="true" debug="20">

             <Membership

className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.mcast.McastService"
                 mcastAddr="239.255.10.10"
                 mcastPort="2525"
                 mcastFrequency="500"
                 mcastDropTime="3000"/>

             <Receiver

                 tcpListenAddress="128.117.224.85"
                 tcpListenPort="4001"
                 tcpSelectorTimeout="100"
                 tcpThreadCount="6"/>

             <Sender

className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.ReplicationTransmitter"
                 replicationMode="synchronous"/>

             <Valve
className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.ReplicationValve"

filter=".*\.gif;.*\.js;.*\.jpg;.*\.htm;.*\.html;.*\.txt;"/>
         </Cluster>

Here's the other, named squirrel:
squirrel.scd.ucar.edu has address 128.117.224.86

     <Engine name="Catalina" defaultHost="squirrel.scd.ucar.edu"
debug="0">
       <Host name="squirrel.scd.ucar.edu" debug="0" appBase="webapps"

         <Cluster
className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.SimpleTcpCluster"

managerClassName="org.apache.catalina.cluster.session.DeltaManager"
                  expireSessionsOnShutdown="false"
                  useDirtyFlag="true" debug="20">

             <Membership

className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.mcast.McastService"
                 mcastAddr="239.255.10.10"
                 mcastPort="2525"
                 mcastFrequency="500"
                 mcastDropTime="3000"/>

             <Receiver

className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.ReplicationListener"
                 tcpListenAddress="128.117.224.86"
                 tcpListenPort="4001"
                 tcpSelectorTimeout="100"
                 tcpThreadCount="6"/>

             <Sender

className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.ReplicationTransmitter"
                 replicationMode="synchronous"/>

             <Valve
className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.ReplicationValve"

filter=".*\.gif;.*\.js;.*\.jpg;.*\.htm;.*\.html;.*\.txt;"/>
         </Cluster>

I must be forgetting something... please help?

Thanks!
