Subject SSLPeerUnverifiedException
Date Wed, 28 Apr 2004 21:26:14 GMT
I'm running into an issue with Tomcat 4.1.29 running under JBoss, where
the following text is written to the server logfile (several times, no
less) whenever a client connects to Tomcat using SSL:

javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: peer not authenticated
        at
com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.SSLSessionImpl.getPeerCertificates(DashoA6275)
        at

        at org.apache.coyote.Response.action(Response.java:226)
        at

        at
org.apache.coyote.tomcat4.CoyoteAdapter.service(CoyoteAdapter.java:195)
        at
org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Processor.process(Http11Processor.java:781)
        at
org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol$Http11ConnectionHandler.processConnection(Http11Protocol.java:549)
        at

        at
org.apache.tomcat.util.threads.ThreadPool$ControlRunnable.run(ThreadPool.java:677)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534)

I've googled this message several times in the past and found that a few
other users have run into this problem. I eventually traced it back to
this bug report:

http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13358

However, this bug report says that the issue should be fixed in 4.1.13,
which leads me to believe what I'm seeing is not the same issue. Anyone
have any advice on how I can keep these messages from being written to
the log?

Thanks,

Jeremy
