Subject RE: SESSION PROBLEM in UNIX
Date Wed, 28 Apr 2004 19:42:38 GMT
Hi, I couldn't reproduce the error on either Windows or Linux. Here is my
test_refresh.jsp, note I used meta instead of setInterval() because I don't
like setInterval, also I did not allow cache. Hope this works:)

response.setHeader("Refresh","1; URL=/MCOne/BP/index.html");
The above line is set only if session is New or session is null .This is
not the refresh interval of this page .The page refreshes every 10secs
using setInterval function on the onLoad function.

I was going to ask you on this one. First you are refreshing it every 1
second, instead of 10 seconds. That's very fast for a normal refresh
rate.

Second, try calling the Servlet in your refresh, that way you will be
able to preserve the client's session:
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="10;URL=/IndexServlet">

I am trying to find the w3c standard for the name in setHeader(name,
value), but with no luck. Anyway, it's always better to use a static
final constant provided by Java than hardcoding the string, i.e., use
Calender.APRIL instead of "3".

Just out of curiosity, is the file name actually WEB.xml (instead of
web.xml) and tomcat has no problem with that? I mean, ok windows is case

insensitive but a unixoid...
