I have tried setting these environment variables up and I get the error:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError;

My environment variables are:

JAVA_HOME: E:\j2sdk_nb\j2sdk1.4.2

Can someone help me???

Yes, environmental variables are still necessary in XP.
