To your third question:

You can have your web application installed wherever you want. You just
have to define the context tag in server.xml of tomcat.

For example like this

<Host name="your host"
            debug="0"
            appBase="webapps"
            unpackWARs="true"
            autoDeploy="true">

        <Valve className="org.apache.catalina.valves.AccessLogValve"
                       directory="logs"
                       prefix="access_log."
                       suffix=".txt"
                       pattern="common"/>

        <Logger className="org.apache.catalina.logger.FileLogger"
                          directory="logs"
                          prefix="file_log."
                          suffix=".txt"
                timestamp="true"/>

        <!-- Context definitions -->
        <!-- Tomcat Root Context -->
        <Context path=""
                 docBase="ROOT"
                 debug="0">
        </Context>

        <!-- company web application mywebapp-->
        <Context path="/mywebapp"
                 docBase="C:/company/webapp/mywebapp"
                 debug="4">
        </Context>
</Hots>

Hope this helps you a little bit
