Are you yourself using:

 if (pageContext != null) pageContext.handlePageException(t);

or is that the servlet?

If you, then don't pass a Throwable object to a method expecting an
Exception.

Otherwise, it could be one of those "missing ';', or missing '}'" tricky
ones.
