Subject RE: Error building Tomcat on Solaris 8
Date Tue, 15 Apr 2003 19:31:38 GMT
we built mod_jk on solaris 8/intel using apache 1.3.22. we also had to
download at ton of gnu software. i've listed the software we used plus the
steps we went through to compile mod_jk. did it twice so it should work...

Programs used to compile mod_jk source:
 Libtool 1.4
 Autoconf 2.57
 Automake 1.7.2
 Perl 5.8.0
 GNU make 3.80
GNU Binutils 2.11.2 (need GNU tar from this)

Build the mod_jk connector:
Unpack the mod_jk source and go to the $JK_HOME/jk/native directory.
Type ./buildconf.sh
Type ./configure -with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
Type make
Type cp ./apache-1.3/mod_jk.so /usr/local/apache/modules/libexec

now all you have to do is configure it...

Also http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/jk2/ may have
information that is useful.

I to had some problems, but found it easier to use the build in ant script
instead of the make
What I did was to ln -s cc to use GCC, and the I fiddled with the
buildscripts to make it build.
mod_jk2 just never happened.
we built for solaris 8 on intel and apache 2.0.44-45, so let us know if you
need the binary
