Date Mon, 03 Feb 2003 04:05:41 GMT
Hi there,

This is an intermittent problem that I have been having with both Tomcat
4.1.18 and 4.1.19

Each time I think I have fixed ti something else start it off again.

Basically the JSP' wont compile, I get the following error

org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP

An error occurred at line: -1 in the jsp file: null

Generated servlet error:
[javac] Since fork is true, ignoring compiler setting.
    [javac] Compiling 1 source file

There will be a few obvious thing I have checked

the JAVA_HOME directory does point to the SDK and not just the JRE

Having original had this problem, I found that 4.1.19 seems to have a
problem if wither Tomcat or the JDK is in a directly with spaces or dots in
the path, c:\Program Files being the major problem.

I moved them to a path without spaces, and that solved the problem, for a
while.

The JDK I am using is 1.4.1, I know there was a 4.1.18 for JDK 1.4 but there
is no specific LE of 4.1.19

What else?...

I am running on Win2k with Service Pack 3

I am running Struts also.

I know that there is nothing wrong with my app, as it runs on Websphere
without a problem.

Any help would be appreciated

Steve
