Subject Obviating the index.xxxx file in the webapp directory
Date Mon, 09 Dec 2002 19:32:47 GMT
Ladies and Gentlemen,

How do I get rid of index.html or index.jsp as the default page for my root
directory?

That is to say, if I deploy an application to CATALINA_HOME/webapps/ROOT,
and I want someone to be able to go to www.mywebpage.com and NOT have the
URL get converted to www.mywebpage.com/index.html or
www.mywebpage.com/index.jsp, how do I do that? Is it possible in Tomcat, or
do I need to chain up Apache HTTPD and the fearsome URL-rewite mod?
