When I start tomcat up on commandline I get messages like this : 

C:\_tomcat2\bin>catalina run
Using CATALINA_BASE:   ..
Using CATALINA_HOME:   ..
Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: ..\temp
Using JAVA_HOME:       c:\eplica\java
17.10.2002 13:16:09 org.apache.commons.modeler.Registry loadRegistry
INFO: Loading registry information
17.10.2002 13:16:09 org.apache.commons.modeler.Registry getRegistry

Starting service Tomcat-Standalone
Apache Tomcat/4.1.12

I think it's like that with most versions.
