I have verified that user.dir works for me when using a directory name with
spaces in it,
specifically when I installed it to
d:\jakarta tomcat\Tomcat 4.1

I had a similar situation.
I'm pretty sure it works 'out of the box'
if you install it onto the system drive (i.e. the one with \WINNT\system32
on it)
but not if you put it onto any other drive ??

Is this the same for you?

BTW I am using jdk1.3.1 and the non-LE version, but I think that's probably
