Subject RE: Tomcat looses session with IE5
Date Thu, 27 Jun 2002 18:20:06 GMT

As I said in another post, IE5 is broken. My company's applications also
support IE5, 5.5, 6+, and Netscape 4.7+. We have a number of customers with
minor versions of 5.0, 5.01, and 6.0 that have problems, all browser
related. For example, you might find that your customers have no problems
on IE 5.01.0124365901, but the people with 5.01.0237899123 do have problems.
You will also find cases where one version works but only when it is the
128-bit version and not the 40-bit version, even if you aren't using SSL.
There is no solution in cases like that except to encourage the user to
upgrade. If your app is working on most versions of IE and Netscape, I can
99.999% guarantee to you that the problems are related to the particular
version of 5.0 that your client is using, not your application.

For example, I have a site right now that works perfectly with IE
6.0.2600.0000. I have a customer that has IE 6.0.some.other.version and the
site does not work.

I tested the same for IE5, 5.5, 6 and netscape. the
problem is with a particular client and i was
wondering if anyone had prior experiences like this.
