This is invalid -- the ";jsessionid=xxx" part goes *before* any question
mark, not *after*.

Are you also calling response.encodeURL() when you write out the
hyperlink?  For example:

  <a href='<%= response.encodeURL("menunewtask.jsp") %>'>New Task</a>
