<P>Check the paths of your new instance.&nbsp; Ensure you're running Tomcat/Catalina
2 on another port besides 8080.&nbsp; Also, it uses 8007 to communicate with Apache if
you're doing that as well.&nbsp; You'll need to change the port on the second instance
that communicates with 8007 to something else.&nbsp; </P>
<P>&nbsp;</P>
<P>What I did was simply this....</P>
<P>Copy new instance.&nbsp; the JDK path does not change.&nbsp; If you have
some custom classes within Tomcat's path, that will also have to change in startup.bat or
tomcat.bat.&nbsp; Use the command Tomcat env to verify the classpath.&nbsp; You should
not have to change any other variables.&nbsp; The JAVA02 might not be necessary because
it will be a variable running in a separate instance.&nbsp; You're safe.&nbsp; If
all this was done, what error did you get?<BR><BR></P></DIV>

machine

<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Hi,
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;I am trying to run another instance of tomcat on the same machine,

<DIV></DIV>&gt;listening
<DIV></DIV>&gt;to another port, ...
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;I copy the whole content of the "jakarta" folder into a second

<DIV></DIV>&gt;directory and
<DIV></DIV>&gt;run the startup script from there but it did not work (the
rationale
<DIV></DIV>&gt;being
<DIV></DIV>&gt;that you may run the same java program in two different directories,

<DIV></DIV>&gt;since
<DIV></DIV>&gt;they will startup on their own JVM)
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;I was tinkering with the startup script and came up with the

<DIV></DIV>&gt;following that
<DIV></DIV>&gt;- did not work- (Notice the "\prjct02\" folder):
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
<DIV></DIV>&gt;SET _RUNJAVA02="%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java"
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;SET _CATALINA_OPTS02=%CATALINA_OPTS02%
<DIV></DIV>&gt;SET _CATALINA_HOME02=%CATALINA_HOME02%
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;SET CATALINA_OPTS02=" "
<DIV></DIV>&gt;SET CATALINA_HOME02= "C:\tomcat\prjct02\jakarta-tomcat-4.0-b5\"

<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;%_RUNJAVA02% %CATALINA_OPTS02% -Dcatalina.home="%CATALINA_HOME02%"

<DIV></DIV>&gt;org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8
%9 start
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;How do you run a totally separate instance of tomcat in the
same
<DIV></DIV>&gt;machine
<DIV></DIV>&gt;listening to incomming requests from another port, ...?
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Thanks
