Subject Tomcat3.2 MySql and JDBC-ODBC bridge
Date Tue, 30 Jan 2001 06:45:06 GMT
Hi,

Basically Tomcat refuses to start when mysql is not already launched.

My Config:
 on Win32
 Tomcat 3.2
 MySql 3.23.11 using MyOBDC 2.50.36

I added the following to server.xml:
	<RequestInterceptor
            className="org.apache.tomcat.request.JDBCRealm"
            debug="99"
		driverName="sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"
		connectionURL="jdbc:odbc:****"
		connectionName="****"
		connectionPassword="****"
	/>

When I try to start Tomcat WHITOUT staring mySQL before, I receive the
following error:

FATAL:java.lang.RuntimeException: JDBCRealm.start.readXml:
java.sql.SQLException: [TCX][MyODBC]Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061)
java.lang.RuntimeException: JDBCRealm.start.readXml:
java.sql.SQLException: [TCX][MyODBC]Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061)
 at org.apache.tomcat.request.JDBCRealm.contextInit(JDBCRealm.java:439)
 at org.apache.tomcat.core.ContextManager.initContext(ContextManager.java:491)
 at org.apache.tomcat.core.ContextManager.init(ContextManager.java:453)
 at org.apache.tomcat.startup.Tomcat.execute(Tomcat.java:195)
 at org.apache.tomcat.startup.Tomcat.main(Tomcat.java:235)

Of course, if I start mySQL before, everything goes fine. However, I'd
like to know if there is anyway to start Tomcat even when mySQL is not
started.

Thanks

Gilles
