Subject FIRST JSP PRGRAM - PLEASE HELP!
Date Fri, 12 Jan 2001 18:48:15 GMT
<html><DIV>Hi I need help!!</DIV>
<DIV>I think this problem will be easy to solve&nbsp;as this is my first attempt
at a JSP application.</DIV>
<DIV><BR>I am copying a JSP program from the java.sun.com website and attempting
to run it on tomcat. The program is a simple one, the user enters his name into a text box
and presses submit. His name is then printed up on the screen, i.e. "Hello &lt;name&gt;".</DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>I have created the two .jsp files (hellouser.jsp and response.jsp) and stored them
in </DIV>
<DIV>C:\jakarta-tomcat\webapps\Hello\</DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>I have created the bean (namehandler.java) as a .java file and stored it in</DIV>
<DIV>C:\jakarta-tomcat\webapps\Hello\Web-inf\Classes\</DIV>
<DIV>Are these the right folders&nbsp; to store those files in?</DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>I have tried compiling the .java file to a .class in JBuilder, but I keep getting
the following warning:</DIV>
<DIV>"Warning #908: check sourcepath; source c:\jakarta-tomcatzwebapps\Hello\Web-inf\Classes\namehandler.java
cannot be found on source pathby appending&nbsp; \hello\namehandler.java to each sourcepath
entry."</DIV>
<DIV>( <U>hello</U> is the name of the package)</DIV>
<DIV>I think the problem may be because I cant generate the .class file. Anyone know
why this might be?</DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>When I try to view the Application while tomcat is running I get this error message:</DIV>
<DIV>
<H1>Error: 500</H1>
<H2>Location: /Hello/hellouser.jsp</H2><B>Internal Servlet Error:</B><BR><PRE>org.apache.jasper.JasperException:
