 Really???

I do this and it works fine for me.
I have 
(a) jdbc classes specified using an arbitrary string.
The corresponding class gets loaded out of a jar
(b) logging classes specified in a .properties file
again, the corresponding class gets loaded ok

This is with tomcat 3.1 on HPUX jdk 1.2.2
