Do you mean that you loose the sessionId in the next page although you are
doing encodeRedirectURL ? ?
I haven't tried that in Tomcat yet but i remember that it didn't work in
JServ1.1 with cookies disabled.
The simple encodeURL() was finally fixed in 3.2b2 and it keeps the sessionID
with cookies disabled but the encodeRedirectURL() might still be
problematic....maybe somebody else can verify..

You can alternativelly use :
getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher("path_to_resource").forward(request
, response)
which does not update the URL on you browser though..
