Hi,

If I understand your problem correctly, there are two things that will 
help. 

1) you can change the size of the dos window by clicking the 
properties icon in the open window and then clicking screen and 
set inital size to 50.

2) If you start tomcat from dos prompt (rather than double clicking) 
the tomcat output appears in that dos window which does not 
close if tomcat teminates do to error.

c:tomcat>bin\tomcat run

Also there is a tomcat log in the log folder that sometimes has 
information. I'm not quite sure how it works.
