Subject Suggestion: Relay CGI variables...

Each of the Apache CGI environment variables was
provided for some reason; it seems that each of them
would be useful to some Servlet developer as well.

Why not include all of the CGI variables in
the servlet context as "apache.xxx" or "tomcat.xxx" or
some such?  This would add some overhead to the
apache<->tomcat request handling, since they
would have to be relayed for every request,
but that should be fairly minor.

In particular, this would provide access to the
document root, which I know is an oft-requested
feature.  (And very important for certain types
of servlet applications.  Having servlets effectively
limited to their own webapp really restricts their
applicability.)
