I like the direct .JSP spec from Sun. Just find the Java Server Pages page
in their "product" area and go to "downloads". There you can download the
.PDF file containing the spec.

The examples that come with Tomcat aren't a bad beginning - and their free. 

The free on-line tutorial on Sun's site isn't bad to begin with.
