I include the servlet.jar file in jakarta-tomcat/lib in the classpath, which
seems to work OK, avoiding a separate download.

Also I use jdk1.3/jre/lib/rt.jar rather than src.jar but I dont know if that
makes any difference.

What compilation errors do you get?
Have you installed the Java Servlet Development Kit or JavaServer Web
Development Kit?
There at http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/download.html
