Patrick, this is the output of ifconfig. Other things are working. I have
installed CVS as a server on the same machine and it is working with remote
clients.

I noticed the error at the very end.. Is your Linux box configured properly
for networking?? Run ifconfig and check the status of your network
device(s).

Can anyone point me in the right direction. I have gotten tomcat running on
a Windows NT box, but not on my Linux box. This is very baddd!

Here is the output from attempting to start Tomcat on my linux box.

Here are a few points:
Operating System is Linux Mandrake 7.0
JDK is JDK 1.1.8 v1 form www.blackdown.com
Using Jakarta-Tomcat

Issuing $TOMCAT_HOME/bin/startup.sh produced the following:

Using classpath:
.:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/lib/ant.jar:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/lib/jasper
.jar:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/lib/servlet.jar:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/lib
/test:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/lib/webserver.jar:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/
lib/xml.jar
Starting tomcat. Check logs/tomcat.log for error messages
