Its in web.xml, I now see that it IS loading the servlet.
Next question

a. I have a JSP page which is calling a singleton class loaded by the
initialization below.

b. I keep getting a null pointer exception. Any ideas? Don't JSP and Servlets
and other classes access the same JVM?
