Thanks for the help so far: I have nearly solved the problem. I am just
still not clear what you mean when you say context dir:

Is that the Servlet context, the tomcat work directory or the apache
directory. I have examined the code and can't see exactly how the
ServletContext is obtaining the properties resource. Some clarification
would be gratefully accepted, yours...
