Subject Apache + Tomcat + Redirect
Date Thu, 25 May 2000 03:41:11 GMT
A quirky one here.

We have apache in front of tomcat (see versions in error message below) and
specific instances where a redirect does not function completely. This is
only occurring with IE (multiple versions on both Mac and PC) and never with
Netscape (multiple platforms and versions).

When the redirect is reached in the primary page (login to site), IE returns
an error that appears to publish not only the offending page but the
redirect page as well. The two pages publish together as one long page with
chunks of code on top and an error message (below) between.

To make matters even more simple, the error cannot be replicated *every*
time.
Here's the error message:

"HTTP/1.1 302 Date: Thu, 25 May 2000 03:40:28 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.12
(Unix) (Red Hat/Linux) ApacheJServ/1.1 Content-Language: en Servlet-Engine:
Tomcat Web Server/3.1 (JSP 1.1; Servlet 2.2; Java 1.2.2; Linux 2.2.12-20RS
i386; java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.) Set-Cookie2:
JSESSIONID=To1061mC15780291205609487At;Version=1;Discard;Path="/"
Set-Cookie: JSESSIONID=To1061mC15780291205609487At;Path=/ Content-Length:
179 Location: http://teachers.gotschool.com/login/logout.jsp Keep-Alive:
timeout=15, max=82 Connection: Keep-Alive Content-Type: text/html"

We have been able to isolate the error to that primary redirect and not the
following page. Any suggestions are welcome.
