Here are few tips:

You can search list archives for tomcat-dev list at
http://www.metronet.com/~wjm/tomcat

Download Java Servlet API Specification from
http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/download.html
Chapters 9 and 10 talk about servlet location and configuration.

Subject: dumb newby question

ok, I can't figure out where to put servlets to run under tomcat. The
jsp samples
work, but there are no example servelts (/examples/servlets/ has html
files and
java source in html files, but no class files).

If I do http://host/servlet I get
404,
Location: /servlet
Not enough information /servlet null

how do I figure out what the actual directory servlet is mapped to so
that I can
put a servlet in there and run it?

thanks
