I get around this by manually deleting all the old servlet entries (.java &
.class) from the \tomcat\work subdirectories.

This is a built in feature.  Tomcat user are ONLY allowed 10 mistakes,
then, that's it buddy!

Sorry, just couldn't resist.

This has been brought up before and the behavior has been changed
in the latest code.  But the question is are you brave enough to
grab it!
