Not sure what parse separately means. You parse once, and maybe, format 
twice (to present date and time separately).

Its parseable.
<fmt:parseDate pattern="yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.S" 
var="parsedDateTime">2005-05-31 18:23:07.0</fmt:parseDate>
