Summary: Tomcat 6 is not running as a service on vista.
           Product: Tomcat 6
           Version: 6.0.18
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows Vista
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
         Component: Manager application
        AssignedTo: dev@tomcat.apache.org
        ReportedBy: asharma3@safenet-inc.com

Hi,

Tomcat 6 is not running as a service on vista. When I tried to start the
service thru tomcat6w.exe it didn’t started.

Tomcat was installed in C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Tomcat 6.0.

I read on some blogs that it will work if tomcat is installed on D or any drive
other than C, but didn’t verify as vista machine is not available currently.

Below are the error logs in tomcat logs:

[2009-05-21 18:24:12] [info] Procrun (2.0.4.0) started
[2009-05-21 18:24:12] [info] Running Service...

Files\Java\jre6\bin\client\jvm.dll
[2009-05-21 18:24:12] [1269 prunsrv.c] [error] ServiceStart returned 1
[2009-05-21 18:24:12] [info] Run service finished.
[2009-05-21 18:24:12] [info] Procrun finished.

Kindly let me know whether it’s a known defect or is another configuration
issue.

I know it might not be a bug but still enetring this problem as bug as the
e-mail to dev@tomcat.apache.org does not delivers even after registration.

Thanks

Abhishek
