           Summary: MX4J has race condition
           Product: Tomcat 5
           Version: 5.5.0
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Catalina
        AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: k.huwig.apache@huwig.de

The mx4j-jmx.jar used in 5.0.28 has a race condition:

This crashed our Tomcat several times. The suggested fix from the MX4J-project
is to use the current version of the library.
