what is the sentences you put in httpd.conf ?
these one ? AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/*
these one ? SetOutputFilter DEFLATE
both of them ?
other one ?

I'm using mod_deflate and mod_jk 1.2.5 without any problems and
just text/html and text/xml are compressed
