Well, maybe Opera is less strict than the other browsers. Could you check with a
telnet and post the result ? If the location header has the correct scheme
(https) and port number (8443), then the bug is with the clients (and, AFAIK,
there's no possible workaround :-( ).

telnet some_host 8080

GET /some_confidential_url HTTP/1.1
Host: some_host:8080
