The issue is that the docs is sometimes slightly incomplete. In all cases, it is
not written with a book writing style. The info is there, though: host will
autoDeploy webapps, and apps declared in server.xml will also get auto deployed.
This logically implies that the app may be deployed twice if the deploy paths
aren't the same.

I think additional "user" docs should be written (volunteers needed), using a
different perspecticve.
You can also buy a book (plenty of Tomcat books have been released since the bug
was filed).
