It's not a bug of the Oracle-Driver. Oracle introduced this behaviour as a feature in Oracle 7. This is really stupid but I don't have a choice. Somewhere in the ORACLE7 documentation it states: "ORACLE7 currently treats a character value with a length of zero as null. However, this may not continue to be true in future versions of ORACLE7".
