JDBCRealm and Interbase 6

           Summary: JDBCRealm and Interbase 6
           Product: Tomcat 4
           Version: 4.0.1 Final
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows NT/2K
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Blocker
          Priority: Other
         Component: Catalina
        AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: dienovat@tin.it

Using Interbase for JDBCRealm I get a java.lang.NullPointerException and a HTTP
500 - Internal server error on the client.
Looking in the JDBCRealm.java code I discovered the error in the authenticate
method:

public Principal authenticate(String username, String credentials) {
  try {
    ....
  } catch (SQLException e) {
    ....
  }
}

Interbase raises a NullPointerException when username and credential are null
(as this method is called the first time), but this exception isn't catched.

Thanks

Diego
