This is my try for the "most stupid question of the century prize", as
usual, 

Perhaps confused with some old messages about mod_jserv.. perhaps..

In any case i would prefer to be able to use mod_rewrite with tomcat.

It's possible to detect if the uri was changed by another prior module?
