For completeness: I've placed a patch for this on
http://www.greenhills.co.uk/mak/apache/, files tomcat-cal.diff
and HTMLEncoder.java

It uses a spearate HTMLEncoder class to do the encoding, as I'm not
aware of there being a standard java/servlet/jsp implementation of
this functionality. I suggest placing the file in WEB-INF/classes in case
any other examples need it too.
